About John A. Cowan (Owner)

In the early 1980s John received hands-on learning in the art of theater photography while working for regional theater and opera companies in San Francisco, Houston, and Virginia. While earning his BFA in Visual Arts, he operated his own studio in NYC, where he photographed actors, actresses, dancers, and other artists. During this period, he also enjoyed extensively photographing the streets of Manhattan, documenting the daily life, and heart, of the city. John moved to North Carolina in 1992, and taught darkroom and photography for 10 years with the Durham Arts Council. He is now a finance executive and enjoys farming, beekeeping, collecting fine photography, and coaching martial arts.
